Shinto Stool

Designed for chanting or meditation, the handles are inspired by the upturned edges of Japan’s Shinto architecture. Clear vertical grain Doug Fir was planed down from old bookshelves left from the 1920’s in an Astoria home. The stools contain no metal hardware. A Kanji character is hand carved in the cross member. (This one says “harmony”).
